PORTFOLIUM

Portfolium is an ePortfolio network that showcases your work over time. It serves as your personal website that allows you to document and reflect on your learning experiences at West Virginia University.

What is an ePortfolio?

An ePortfolio is a collection of work (evidence) in an electronic format that highlights your coursework and learning experiences. When you think about your ePortfolio and the types of evidence that it contains, it is important to think carefully about its purpose and intended audience. Some ideas for your ePortfolio could be:

  • Files of various formats (text, pictures, video, etc.)
  • Evidence related to courses taken and programs of study
  • Writing samples
  • Projects and presentations prepared for your courses
  • Evidence of creativity and performance
  • Evidence of extracurricular or co-curricular activities, including examples of leadership
  • Resume and letters of recommendations

Why would you want an ePortfolio?

Creating an ePortfolio might give you the edge when looking for your first job after college. In a study conducted by the Association of American College and Universities, more than four in five employers stated that an ePortfolio “would be useful to ensure that job applicants have the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their company or organization.” Additionally, many graduate programs are now requiring ePortfolios as part of their application process. By creating your Portfolium account today, you’ll be getting ahead of the competition.
